I think Jimmy Novak is one of the most interesting questions ever raised by the Supernatural series.  So many people in the world have religion.  They have these very ideal versions of things happening around them.  So did Jimmy.  But what if, like Jimmy, you were suddenly asked to be part of it, and you found it it wasn’t as great as you pictured it to be?

So for Jimmy having his faith confirmed, finding out heaven and angels were real, meant having his faith shattered.  Yes, he has a definitive answer, but it’s not the answer he wanted.  It broke him.  Shattered the foundation upon which he’d lived his life.  Even in the end, his faith meant ultimately he had to give up his own life in noble sacrifice to save his daughter’s.  His faith ruined his life.

I think that’s why, beyond just Misha’s brilliant acting in bringing two unique characters to life in the same body, I’m so fascinated by Jimmy Novak.  It’s why I want to know what’s going on with him inside Cas.  He very well might be dead, but I’d like to hope he’s still alive.  That he wasn’t totally cheated by this faith.  His story is a question to which I want answers.
